According to a report on travel trends in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, which includes the UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait, Azerbaijan has been ranked first among the top 10 preferred travel destinations, with 38% of respondents choosing it as their top choice.

The report titled "Connecting Travel Insight Report" was prepared by the renowned Jacobs Media and was presented on May 7 during "ATM Dubai 2024". The rankings were calculated based on current-year travel data and average growth rates in flight capacities. Alongside Azerbaijan, the top ten destinations included Egypt, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Georgia, Switzerland, Turkey, and the Maldives.

During the event, Julia Simpson, CEO of the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to sustainable tourism by joining the "Hotel Sustainability Basics" program, emphasizing the importance of this initiative.

It is also noteworthy that in January-April 2024, the number of visitors from the Middle East to Azerbaijan increased by 51% compared to the same period last year.
